Translation: Muhsin Khan
Recite (O Muhammad SAW) what has been revealed to you of the Book (the Quran), and perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat). Verily, As-Salat (the prayer) prevents from Al-Fahsha’ (i.e. great sins of every kind, unlawful sexual intercourse, etc.) and Al-Munkar (i.e. disbelief, polytheism, and every kind of evil wicked deed, etc.) and the remembering (praising, etc.) of (you by) Allah (in front of the angels) is greater indeed [than your remembering (praising, etc.) Allah in prayers, etc.]. And Allah knows what you do. (Surah Al-Ankabut 29:45 )
Translation: Sahih International
And establish prayer and give zakah and bow with those who bow [in worship and obedience]. (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:43)
Translation: Muhsin Khan
When you have finished As-Salât (the congregational prayer), remember Allâh standing, sitting down, and (lying down) on your sides, but when you are free from danger, perform As-Salât (Iqamat-as-Salât). Verily, As-Salât (the prayer) is enjoined on the believers at fixed hours. (Surah An-Nisa 4:103)
Translation: Muhsin Khan
1. Successful indeed are the believers. 2. Those who offer their Salât (prayers) with all solemnity and full submissiveness. (Surah Al-Mu'minun 23:1-2 )
Translation: Muhsin Khan
And seek help in patience and As-Salât (the prayer) and truly it is extremely heavy and hard except for Al-Khâshi‘ûn [i.e. the true believers in Allâh - those who obey Allâh with full submission, fear much from His Punishment, and believe in His Promise (Paradise) and in His Warnings (Hell)]. (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:45)
Translation: Muhsin Khan
Then, there has succeeded them a posterity who have given up As-Salât (the prayers) [i.e. made their Salât (prayers) to be lost, either by not offering them or by not offering them perfectly or by not offering them in their proper fixed times] and have followed lusts.1 So they will be thrown in Hell. (Surah Maryam 19:59)
Translation: Muhsin Khan
They will say: "We were not of those who used to offer the Salât (prayers). (Surah Al-Muddaththir 74:43).
Translation: Muhsin Khan
And perform As-Salât (Iqâmat-as-Salât ), at the two ends of the day and in some hours of the night [i.e. the five compulsory Salât (prayers)]. Verily, the good deeds remove the evil deeds (i.e. small sins). That is a reminder (an advice) for the mindful (those who accept advice). (Surah Hud 11:114)
Fundamental Obligation: Salah is the backbone of Islam and the most important physical act of worship.
Protection from Evil: It prevents great sins (Al-Fahsha) and wicked deeds (Al-Munkar).
Expiation of Sins: The five daily prayers act as a bath that cleanses sins, leaving no dirt behind.
Direct Connection: It is the closest a person is to their Lord, particularly during prostration.
Consequence of Abandonment: The Salaf regarded neglecting prayer as a very serious matter, with some scholars considering the abandonment of prayer to be disbelief.
Accountability: It is the first deed for which a person will be judged on the Day of Resurrection.
